Star Wars Ep. VII: The Force Awakens instal the new version for apple

Plus, the violence isn't all that bad really. I mean, there is a dark side to the force, is there not? And the actual evilness of the First Order is actually refreshing considering how the villains always seem to take pride in the dark side. The 'darkness' of the movie is something I don't mind. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention the one thing every reviewer is talking about.

However, I would still recommend this movie overall. The whole destroying-the-planet-destroyer has already been used once. Another downside is that it basically copies the same plot idea as A New Hope. I know that many people love some of the new characters, but they aren't all that great (besides possibly Kylo, Driver's acting is pretty impressive). Here's the thing: the new cast does not impress me at all.

Unfortunately, that is the biggest reason I gave this movie 4 stars. Coming from previous episodes where they were only mediocre, it is truly a pleasant surprise. The effects are incredible in this movie. Overall I recommend this movie for fans and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved it, being the Star Wars traditionalist that I am. Seeing the main stars from the original trilogy aged is also powerful. There are also other positive themes about friendship and family. I loved the character Rey, and appreciated seeing such a badass female character introduced. My kids are more disturbed by realistic themes and action, but the 'science fiction/space' action seems to be non-troubling. But for kids who are big fans of Star Wars, I think it could be OK for the younger set depending on each child. I held off because it is PG-13 and I was worried about my youngest. Because of their love for Star Wars, they have been begging to watch The Force Awakens. Over the past year I finally let them watch the original trilogy, which they loved so much. I have long resisted the 'new' Star Wars movies, being a fan of the original trilogy from my childhood. A light saber goes through Hans and that's it, no visible trauma. My 9 year old was fascinated but not upset. It is clear a few minutes before this is about to happen, and as we talked about it beforehand my 7 year old chose not to watch that part.

Also, both my kids knew of this happening from the numerous SW books in their school library and the overall SW media deluge. The scene where Hans dies is emotionally sad, but not gory. They weren't troubled by the violence, and they are fairly sensitive has I carefully pick all their video content. I let my 7 and 9 year old children watch this movie with me.
